Apricot Scones

Today I made the Apricot Scones from the back of the diced apricots. They baked up just fine, only more than the usual amount of scones. I have the round scone pan, but I had dough for 3 more scones. The thing is that the scones left me with a very salty aftertaste. I wonder if bakingpowder and salt is too much.

Kemling, I don't have the recipe. How much baking powder and how much salt? Also how much flour did the recipe call for?

Kemling again

Mrs. Cindy, Thanks for your interest. Now I don't believe the salty taste came from the scones. I warmed some up this morning and they had no salty taste. I won't make them again though. As much as I like rich food, these were too rich. Eight ounces of creamcheese and a stick of butter for one scone recipe.

Oh, no! Eight ounces of cream cheese AND a stick of butter? I don't think so! I'm all for rich, but not like that in a scone. Scones are NOT supposed to be over the top rich. At least none of the scones I had in England were that way.

Nope, too rich for me! I'm glad you posted this thread. I will be careful to avoid that recipe.
