boiled cider

How do you make boiled cider? Is it simply cider that as been simmered until you ave a thick syrup?

Hi Pammyowl,
Yes, in autumn apple cider is pressed then taken to the sugar house and boiled down, just like maple syrup. Like maple syrup this process produces a tremendous amount of steam (enough to peel wallpaper!). I don't trying to make this at home. the reduction ratio is 8:1. It takes 1 gallon of Cider to make 2 cups of Boiled Cider. Frank @ KAF.
