doughnut dough!
Hi! I'm making a huge batch of mashed potato doughnuts for fashnacht day. My recipe is a family one and slightly similar to yours. i may have added way way too much flour on my first batch of dough. It isn't sticky at all! Any tips? I'm going to use it, but.... I have 2 mixers going to mix all the dough.
Anyone else making these?

Good luck. I hope it comes out successfully. I have never made these so I won't be any help. I'm going to do a batch of cookies and perhaps some cinnamon rolls.

Hi Heather,
Here's a great blog Irene, one of the KAF bakers, did on the mashed potato doughnuts:

The blog does a good job of showing the texture of the dough as she works with it. After mixing it together she turns the dough out onto a heavily floured surface and just kind of push-kneads it a bit so that the outside is less sticky and can be rolled out.
You could always try adding some milk to the dough, a tablespoon at a time, to moisten it a bit more. At worst, you could always fry up a few as is to see how it turns out?

Thanks for you help! I did add a tiny bit of water. we'll see! probably we will eat them no matter what! The second batch was stickier. Hoping to get 300 doughnuts made! Fun times!
I LOVE your site and your flour! I tell everyone to buy it! Even old ladies looking at it in the store! (well, only if they ask!)

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have a hard time not whispering to people in the baking aisle "psst, that flour's the best, buy that one!"
Please let us know how the doughnuts turn out! Doughnuts are kind of like pizza - even when they're bad, they're still pretty good. :) I'm sure they'll be great!

Keri, they turned out fine! One year my doughnuts turned out FABULOUS! never have since then, but still we eat them. I made about 200 and still had dougnh leftover and made cinnamon buns, and just rolls and popped in the freezer. I was very very tired of frying!
Our traditional ones are actually without a hole! I have a hard time frying those correctly. any tips? Older people in the area either agree and say that's why they used doughnut cutters OR they say they never had a problem with it and look at me weird!
Oh well, doughnuts are good! you are right. we had NO problem eating them!
I'm actually tired of them, but tomorrow i will NOT be tired of cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing!
