How do I find someone's recipes?
How do I find someone's recipes? When I click on recipes and then type the name in search, I don't get them. Deanna

I had the same problem when I was trying to find a community member's recipe for baked donuts. Here's what I figured out, and I hope I don't lead you off a cliff...
Along the top of the page, where it says "shop" "recipes" "our flours", etc., if you click "recipes" you'll get the KAF illustrated recipe files.
Along the left side of the page, under "the baking circle", if you click on "recipes", you'll be able to search for community members' recipes.
What are you looking for? We can give it a try.

Click on the person's name. The link will lead you to their personal pages. Their recipes will be under a heading as such. Only a few will appear, but if there are more there will be a link to access the entire list.

Newton, I followed your instructions but I can't find "the baking circle" listed over on the left side. To find a member's recipes I can click on their personal page if they are a "friend" or I click on their name if I can find them posting. BUT you have to remember whose has the recipe you are looking for. I just can't find a way to search member recipes.

Thanks, but some people don't have a personal page but their recipes were saved from the old BC. So how do I find them, like DvdLee or Moomie? Deanna

DDoug,
There was a thread back in September that discussed saving recipes -- http://community.kingarthurflour.com/content/recipes
here's the link they posted to DvdLee's recipes
http://community.kingarthurflour.com/user/1109098/recipes/
All I did was enter DvdLee in the community search box and all the threads popped up.
Hope this helps

I've tried out everyone's suggestions for finding member recipes and the results are very hit or miss. If I type in ddoug personal page there are no results returned. If I type member recipes still no results. So I can find the recipes of people I am friends with by going to their personal page or scroll through the threads until I find a posting by someone whose recipes I want but am not friends with. This only works for recipes I remember from the Old BC (and also remember who posted them) I can't find a way to just say "member recipes" and have the recipes come up so I can look through what is there. Is that feature available and I am just not informed? KAF techies please advise

janiebakes,
when you read this thread, look to the left hand column. You'll see "the baking circle" in orange. Just below that in blue "Recipes" and under that "Home baker discussions". If you click on the blue recipes it will take you to all the member recipes posted. The problem I have is they are posted in chronological order, not by person or type of recipe.
If you were to click on any poster's blue name, such as ddoug or cwcdesign, it would take you directly to their personal page where you could find their recipes.
In the "search community" box, all I typed in was DvdLee - I didn't include recipes or personal page - it took me to all discussions that included his name.
Does this help?

Hi folks: I think if you follow Carol's advice, (cwcdesign, right above this post), you should be able to find member recipes in the best way that currently exists. There's no need to leave community.kingarthurflour.com, click into the regular KA recipe archives, and try to get at them that way; just stay right in the community, click on recipes in the left nav bar (as Carol suggests), and search there. If the recipe is tagged with the person's name, it'll appear when you search; for instance, I typed in "Moomie" and got 3 pages of results. Now, to get to her recipes, click on "UsedtoBeMoomie," which will take you to the page of whoever reposted her recipes to the new site. At the bottom of that page, you'll see a list of her recipes; click "more" to view them all.
If the recipe isn't tagged with the person's name, then do as Carol suggests, again: find the person's name, click on it, and go to their personal page to see their recipes. ALL of the recipes on the community are "member recipes;" so to see all member recipes - just click on "recipes" in the left nav, and they'll all appear, in chronological order.
I'll put in a request to be able to sort recipe results by who posted the recipe; that would be a help.
Have a good weekend, one and all-

Carol, thank you, that was enormously helpful.
PJH, Thank you for putting in that request because finding the personal page of whoever posted a recipe is the tough part.
Also, is it possible to search the member recipes by the type of recipe. For example, Bread, cookies, pies. The set up KAF had on the old BC was so easy to use. Sorry to harking back to the old BC but you know that saying about old dogs and new tricks. Thanks for all your patience and help.

glad I could help. I do agree with you about wanting recipe types - bread, cake, etc. I think PJ's going to try to get that on the "to-do" list.

I am looking for David Lee's biscuit recipe. There STILL is not a logical way to find his recipes. How long has this new site been up? There should be a clear, logical way to find member recipes, even if the member is deceased. As long as the recipes are not deleted, why should we have to search threads or go thru chronological recipe listings or find their avatar in a discussion and click on that to get to their personal page? This happens to me every time I want a recipe. And I just want it to respond to a poster's request for a biscuit recipe for Thanksgiving.

DL,
I'm doing a run through on another window to help get you there. First click on the brown search button at the top of the page (I know you've already done this 100 times). Then click on the "Users" tab. It doesn't like that - it will tell you it yielded no information. Now type "dvdlee"in the search box without the quotation marks and it will bring up a list with a blue dvdlee. Click on that one and it will take you to his home page or click on the link below
http://community.kingarthurflour.com/users/dvdlee
Now, if I had the time, I would have learned to create a hyperlink like ZenSojourner and uninvited-guest do.

Thanks Carol, I printed your instructions out. And I was even spelling dvdlee correctly! It just is not a logical or clear process (to me anyway).
