Icing with cream cheese and covering with Fondant


Can I cover a cake iced with cream cheese frosting in Fondant?

Any Advice, tips, hints, etc....

Hello - Yes, you can do this only I would not, personally. I feel it would be too sweet to have the 2 together. If you were to try this, my advice for you is to just do a thin layer of cream cheese frosting and freeze the frosted cake before trying to envelope it with fondant. Cream cheese frosting still remains somewhat tacky even after freezing so getting a smooth look with the fondant may be tricky. My favorite medium for icing a cake before putting fondant on is an egg based buttercream (Italian Meringue, Swiss Meringue). It chills without being tacky and is very forgiving when putting fondant or marzipan on. Good luck! Elisabeth
