Lemon mousse cake

I have a page bookmarked with this intimidating recipe. I don;t know how to put it here so you only have to click on it.
But if you google Alpineberry lemon mousse cake you can click on it there and get to the recipe . She is one of the "Daring Bakers "group.
Now, I think I could do this, but the courage is not there yet but oh... what a wonderful accomplishment that would be to make something so beautiful and luscious. Let me know what you all think.

That looks beautiful!

I would think you would want to plan a couple of days if you were going to try it. Just take your time and I think you would have success.

Ooh, that looks fun. I think I have some other recipes from the Roux brothers patisserie book too.

Another fun thing to do for a cake is a chocolate collar. You spread chocolate onto a piece of clingfilm, leave it till just about set (not in fridge!) and then use the film to wrap it around a cake. The film comes off easily afterwards.

This is one I did for a surprise birthday cake for a friend, years ago.

Maria, that's a great site! I'll go back for those recipes, but I didn't find the Lemon Mousse Cake, only the, (ONLY I say) the Lemon Pound Cake and the the heavenly looking Lemon Curd Cake, which is on the Must Do list, along with the Chocolate Bourbon Cake. Thanks for the calories (to be sung to Thanks for the Memories) :).

maria, that is mind boggling. Despite having a lemon tree, I doubt if I will ever make it. Sad but I have no occasion to show off such a beauty, and most people I know would not comprehend someone spending so much time on it. However, if I had a good reason, I would . . .

Ok I'll bite.....How about dessert for a certain bami dinner ??

mrscindy

Oh, Sandra, when you mentioned the Roux Brothers on Patisserie, I knew I had that book. Sure enough, front and center on the kitchen bookshelf.

So, what have I been doing for the past two hours? Cooking dinner? No. Reading a cookbook! From front to back. One of my most favorite past times! Great book. So many things to try.

Not enough hours in my day.

That's probably too ambitious for me, not being much of a decorating sort of gal, that is for desserts. Though I'll be happy to bring something as stupendously delicious as I can muster. A lot will depend on when the Bami Dinner will occur since my DH will have surgery and it may (only a slight chance) entail some pretty intense recovery. I'll send you a personal note on that. I think we were talking about later in the Spring?

mrscindy

Don't bite, frick! Don't bite! I know this woman! You'll end up slaving over this cake! I'm warning you, DON'T BITE!!

Cindy, you are a gal after my own heart! You make me laugh!

It has only been a little over three months since I volunteered to make those pink ladybugs on top of the other things for that First Birthday Party. Even with my painfully decrepid mind, I remember only too well that I hardly ever make anything that has to be decorated and there I was making 50 swirly pink cupcakes too!

In fact, I could offer to bring some of the pink ladybugs to the Bami Dinner since I still have a s*** pile of them. :)

(But no one would eat them)

I still think one of the best things I have ever made was KA's melty gruyere bread. Have you ever made that? After much research I learned to make panforte. That and panettone are ambitious enough for me.

mrscindy

Frick, I took one look at that lemon thingy and got the shakes! It's beautiful, no doubt, but with my limited motor skills I KNOW I couldn't come close to doing it justice. As a matter of fact, it would look like a bomb dropped right in the middle of it!

I can't even make croissants, for cryin' out loud! What in the world would make me think I could make something that even MIGHT resemble a lemon mousse cake like that?

And, Ria, don't let her fool you! She would goad you into making that cake and smile sweetly the whole time. She and I have a secret competition going on. I think she won, but I'm not going to tell her.

Frick, the dinner is on Sunday March 25th. That is the day that is good for Hickeyja. She is flying back home again on the following Monday and the Friday and Saturday is when the Science Fair is going on in San Diego.

OMG, that is so terrifying I may never bake again!

*spoons in more mac 'n cheese to soothe the rattling nerves*

But seriously, you don't have to do the fancy HTML to get the link to show up as clickable. Just cut and paste the url in as text, like this:

The site will turn that into a clickable link.
