Pastry book

Well, I ordered the brand new pastries book from Pierre Hermes (?) Amazon was not going to get it until March, but lo and behold they got it early and I received my beautiful book today. I opened the box ,took the book and sat down to have a wonderful time dreaming about all the great pastries I was going to bake.

Book is back in the box to be returned to Amazon. Pages 136 and 137 are glued together and no way could I get them apart without damaging the pages.

Now I have to wait all over again !!I am sad !!

Which book?

I just bought Reves de Patissier because it was under $70. It's a great intro to his thinking and style.

FYI the best price for PH10--the 10th anniversary compilation of all his recipes--is available in Toronto and by mail order from www.cook-book.com for $170 CDN plus shipping. Be warned that this is in Spanish. The sucker weighs 6 pounds...

Oh, Ria, no! How disappointing. It would make me furious to get a book with pages glued together. Haven't they ever heard about QC? We do it all the time. Why doesn't everyone do it? Huh, huh??

It's okay, sweetie. Take a big breath. Shortly you will have a new book to sit and read.

Amazon doesn't always fulfil orders directly, sometimes they come from their associates. I wonder if that one had been seconded?

I still want his Macarons book, but I've also been eyeing the macarons two-day course at SFBI in June. That might ALMOST be worth a trip to San Francisco.

Bakerirene, this is a beautiful book. It has a picture of a raspberry tart that you just want to bite into. It is his first book in English in a decade. I paid about $32.00 on Amazon. It was not supposed to be released until March, so I will just figure I had a little preview.LOL

Mike, it did come from Amazon. I also am shipping it back to them. No hassle with that at all. They let you print a return label with postage already paid so no cost to me.
Early summer in San Francisco....very nice. You should go if at all possible.

What a drag, Ria! Luckily you bought it from amazon. They have the best return policy and the best customer service out there, hands down!

What a shame! Gives you something to look forward to though!

Hooray, the new book is here and NO glued together pages. It is a gorgeous book. I don't think the recipes are too difficult, but involves a lot of work . Just for very special occasions for me. But this book will be my "coffee table book" for a long time.

Oh, lucky you, Ria! Can't wait to hear what you make from it!
